I love reading. I’m a big advocate of learning and that it shouldn’t stop when your formal education ends.
While working online is amazing, it has its own challenges. One of my greatest challenges has been motivating myself to work when no one is checking over my shoulder to see if I’m being productive. I’ve managed to keep myself accountable by outsourcing almost everything. This means I’m only handling the tasks that are absolutely essential for me to do and for everything else they’re being completed by people who are accountable to me. Everything’s a little easier now I’ve been working online for over 5 years, but when I first got started it was really hard and confusing.
Here are the best books for online entrepreneurs that have helped me launch an online business, refine it, and grow my income to 5 figures every month!
1. The 4-Hour Workweek – Timothy Ferriss
This was probably the first book I ever read about working online and thank goodness I did, otherwise I might be slaving away in a traditional 9-5 job somewhere. I have re-read the 4-hour workweek a few times since first reading it back in late 2010. While I do not think it is still as groundbreaking as it was back then, it’s definitely a wonderful place to start if you’re new to working online. It showed me that it was possible to earn an income while traveling the world, with enough free time to enjoy learning new skills and taking mini retirements throughout your life, while you’re young and able to really enjoy them.
2. The Miracle Morning -Hal Elrod
The truth is, when you become self employed, how you start your own mornings will determine how successful your days are, and in turn, how successful you become. With that in mind, it’s important to start things off right. Implementing a morning routine is a great way to ensure that your morning sets you up to kick ass throughout the day. This formula for the perfect morning is simple, but will ensure that you’re in the right frame of mind to get yourself a lot closer to your end goal, one morning at a time. In my opinion, this book is a must read for everyone regardless if they are an online entrepreneur or someone who just wants to become more effective in almost every area of your life.
3. Deep Work – Cal Newport
If you’re like me, there’s probably only a small period of the day when you can produce stellar work. Anything you try to do after this time frame will be much more shallow and will likely be at a lower quality output. Ever noticed this holds true for you? Well in the book Deep Work, this concept of only having a certain amount of brain power each day to produce excellent work is examined. You’ll learn how to maximise the quality of your work, ensuring you’re achieving stand out results. The truth is, in our modern world that is saturated with distractions, those of us who learn how to master deep work, will be the ones who achieve incredible success.
